Welcome to SWR Dune Care!
Dear Visitor: If you enjoy the unique Australian bush, check out our site. You may belong to (or be interested in joining) an existing landcare group, or just planning a beach holiday along the coast - there could be something here for you. If you have any questions, please call or text Ian Burnett (02 6566 5538), Alan Hill (0419 012 640), or Peter Krantz (02 8402 1581) . Or, send us an email from here
Our web site explains and documents our objectives and progress. The most recent update was in November 2015. We are working to improve our photo gallery by providing better coverage of plant and weed species, more scenery pictures, and google earth "flyovers".

Our Group
South West Rocks Dune Care (SWRDC) is an enthusiastic community-based organisation, with over 20 years experience, which undertakes environmental restoration work around South West Rocks, on the Mid-North Coast of NSW Australia.

We operate across multiple land tenures and work closely with the National Parks staff and Kempsey Shire Council. We are successfully eliminating invasive weeds and encouraging the return of native plants, and the animals that depend on them.

Please support our regeneration work by bringing yourself or a group along to SWR to experience the beautiful coastline, see what we have done, and contribute a few hours time. Promote our group to your friends, local bushcare groups, and council. Your contribution will be welcome.

  • SWRDC won the Australian Government, NSW Division, COASTCARE award in 2011.

  • Then in 2012 we won the COASTCARE award at the National level.

  • SWRDC receives in-kind and financial support from volunteers, National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) NSW, and Kempsey Shire Council.

  • Between 2004-2014 we received, grants totalling over $230,000.00 from Northern Rivers CMA, Federal Government Envirofund, and Caring for our Country.  Recently, we have received an additional $350,000 from the NSW Environmental Trust, making a total of $580,000.

Our funding partners provide the financial support without which the results obtained by our volunteers and workers would be severly curtailed. Details of our funding partner's grants can be found here or via the "About Us" menu tab above.
